Visit Michelle at the
relaxing Nature Notes Thursday to learn something
fascinating.
My last Nature Notes was about ice dams, of which we had p.l.e.n.t.y.
Today: the herald of spring. I've never been so pleased to see a crocus in my life! The weather has been warming, but today was especially delightful in the high 70s, birds going crazy chirping and calling. I imagine the ones in my backyard right now chewing me out for not refilling the feeders. They're ravenous, these little birds!!

There's nothing as beautiful to me as the first crocuses. Mine bloomed in early March and are done so good to see yours starting. I love that shade of purple or maybe it's violet.
You got good photos of them. I tried to and they looked so washed out. They do lift your spirits though. We are getting your warm weather tomorrow. Happy dance..happy dance.. Michelle
It is supposedd to get up to 82ยบ today..we had coffee out on our front porch. Wonderful.
So yummy! Spring is finally making an appearance here in the north as well. Pussies are willowing, herons have ret'd.........and I'm waiting patiently for the weather itself to cooperate! ~ks
Oh, look at those lavender beauties popping their heads and necks out of the ground. Lovely!
I don't have crocuses, but every spring I wish I'd take the time to plant some. This morning I did have, however, a very large flock of Great Blues that filled the sky, arriving to the little island that sits in front of my house. I was so excited! It wasn't just 3 or 4, like the other day!! I almost cried to see them all, so weary, and finally reaching their destination! ~karen
The first crocuses are such a joy. Deer eat them to the ground here, but I'm thinking maybe they'd grow in a pot on a windowsill next year. Worth a shot.
