Nature Notes - Insects all Around

Visit Michelle at the intelligent Nature Notes Thursday to learn something new.

Lady bugs and butterflies,
Buzzing bees up in the sky.
Teeny, tiny little ants,
Crawling up and down the plants
Many insects can be found
In the sky and on the ground.

I was walking into work earlier this week and this fellow caught my eye. I whipped out my camera and took a couple shots. When I came back into the office from lunch 5.5 hours later, he was still there. After work, he was gone. I think he's a very nice looking bug, but he may need some work on his camouflage skills!

Ha, he does rather stand out on that blue sign. Odd that he'd stay in the same spot (especially one with no food) for hours.

I wondered about that and then wondered equally at why he would leave, eat and return.

Maybe the poor wee thing was colour blind. Even bugs have to stay somewhere when not looking for food, why not a sign?

He would sure be camouflaged if he were on green...he looks like a leaf with legs.

THAT'S a katydid? Holy cow. I would never have guessed. I think what is making a racket in my neighborhood are cicadas then.
